« For a successful technology, reality must take precedence
over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled. »
― Richard Feynman (1918 – 1988}

I regard information and communication technology (ICT) as a glue and tool that enables cross-fertilization and interdisciplinary research within and between the domains of physical and life sciences, the fine arts and the humanities. My approach is based on discovering synergies between the following research areas:

  • media, film and visual arts
  • ubiquitous computing and communications
  • autonomic, intelligent and cognitive systems
  • bio-photoelectronics and nano-biotechnology
  • evolving artificial and bio-synthetic systems
  • quantum information and communication systems

My approach to projects in the above fields consists of two steps. First, specific research topics are identified and evaluated with respect to feasibility, innovation level (state-of-the-art in science and technology), EU research policy and world market demands. Then, selected promising initiatives are endorsed by subject focussing, partner search and funding opportunity definition.
